A stunning brooch by Manfred Kleinert!
Manfred started in Gablonz in 1912 he then moved to Kaufbeuren in 1946 the mark 41 was designated as the number given to the Kleinert factory with pieces marked with that number generally recognised as being pieces made in the Kleinert factory.
Max Muller, Otto Muller, Manfred Kleinert, Rudolph Weiss and Erhard Seiboth were commissioned at various times to make pieces for Christian Dior. Pieces were also made for the French market and bore some resemblance to the work of French designers such as Roger Jean Pierre (often being mistaken for his work). Occasionally you may see brooches made with a Trombone or Piston clasp, often attributed to French or Czech pieces - but undoubtedly from the Kaufbeuren stable.
All of the Kaufbeuren designers adopted very similar design influences and there are often clear similarities in their designs.
Many pieces are unsigned and can only be identified by the distinct design and construction features, or identified by remaining factory records or factory numbers.
In recent years, the work of these Germany designers has come to the forefront, now highly collectable and sought after. The manufacturing and design qualities of these pieces are second to none. The German manufacturing processes, so highly regarded by the likes of Christian Dior, still remains so today.
